Hey my name is Tashi Wangdi — also known as Megabyte as a nickname. A humble guy from Bhutan. I have been working as an official cultural guide from 2018 and upgraded to trekking guide along the way. I've had hard times and good times.
Why this website exists
After COVID everything changed — especially in the tourism field. New rules and regulations came, a new system came, and since the system was new it kept updating now and then. People working in the field were confused. A new SDF and visa fee came into place, there were lots of questions. Since I worked with both regional and international guests I had the knowledge — so in order to share it, I created this website.
After COVID, as a guide we can now host — we got to learn how to arrange accommodation, transportation and customise itineraries for guests. So I'm working with a bunch of specialists and well-experienced people from the tourism field. These people are well experienced, just like I'm well experienced in cultural tours.
The people who make it real
I stopped going on treks — gears were expensive, we were underpaid by travel agents, and the gear you get here in Bhutan is expensive and knockoff version. Even though I'm also a trekking guide. So we have Thinley Samdrup.

Trekking in Bhutan is known as high altitude trekking — we need a specialist guide who knows the mountain, the terrain. I don't want to be a travel agent just copying itineraries from the internet and sending people on trek without the right knowledge. He is a cool guy — but watches Tom and Jerry cartoon.

This website is filled with beautiful pictures — not AI generated, not downloaded from the internet. All thanks to this guy. I call him Wadhipa, which translates to Cowboy. One day we were trekking Dagala and he was walking so fast. When we stopped to rest I asked him "why you walk so fast?" He said "I was a Wadhipa in the village before." A cowboy in Bhutan needs immense physical strength and hard work — so walking is just a piece of cake for him.
He is also a cultural guide, trekking guide, birder and photographer. If you're coming to Bhutan and need a guide — this guy is a package. Photographer, cultural guide, trekking guide, birder and he-man hahahha.

You will see a fat man in my team with his lovely wife — he asked me to remove the picture but I insisted he looks like The Rock. He loves driving more than guiding. He calls his car his baby — you will always see him keeping it clean. He organises transportation for other travel companies when he's free, and knows cars better than any of us. So he is assigned as Transportation Manager.
I'm sure people coming to Bhutan will never face transportation issues — unless there's a roadblock. In Bhutan most drivers are PD holders (Professional Driver), which you get after three years. Driving on flat roads and mountain roads are a very different story.

The tall and handsome guy you see in my team wearing the camouflage outfit — he really loves birds. Our birding tours are done by him or his circle. I always make fun of birds when tourists ask me — I'd say "yellow beak, long tail, ugly looking bird." But this guy will say "It's the yellow-billed blue-magpie, Urocissa flavirostris, a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, along with crows and jays."
What this is really about
This about page is about a travel organiser — but I'm more into organising a tour and making your stay pleasant and memorable. You know what — I love this field so much. My mom asks why I'm not praying. I always say "I always visit temples and sacred lakes. I'm on pilgrimage."
Tourists coming to Bhutan — I always tell them: if you came here for peace, you have chosen the correct place. But if you are looking for entertainment, wrong country. That's exactly why I created a wellbeing tour. You can breathe fresh air, leave all the worries and all those messy things here, and leave with a beautiful smile and a good memory. That's my plan.
And I'm coming up with a blog page soon. Last time I kept a coming soon page — yaks were carrying the stories through the mountain. But Google was going to rank me down for having a blank page, so I had to delete it. The yaks are still on their way, with loading animation hahahha.
"We don't just show you Bhutan. We share it with you — because this is our home and we want you to feel that."Tashi Wangdi / Megabyte · oh! Bhutan
In school we always had to write a summary — so let me summarise this. It's not a travel agency like any other travel agency. It's a gateway to meet really awesome people who know Bhutan.
There is no price list for itineraries like a regular travel agent. You can download most of the information in PDF — visa enquiry, my team profiles, trek details. There are beautiful phone numbers that can connect you directly. It's easy to reach. Just hit that WhatsApp button — I'm always online.
I hope to see you soon in Bhutan. Just bring Chom (a gift) for me or for the guides when you come — hahahha. We have a tradition to give Chom when we come from new places, it's deeply rooted in our culture. And please don't forget to tip our team when you leave. It really helps them during the off season. Since data is expensive, most stuff is imported and it's expensive here — you will gain good merit and might even get enlightened hahahha.
"Tata bye bye."
