Do You Have Something Worth Sharing?
Bhutanese Voices is an open platform for guides, locals and professionals across Bhutan to share knowledge, stories and perspectives — things that help visitors understand the kingdom better, and things the internet simply does not have.
Every day, thousands of people search online for information about Bhutan. Most of what they find is copied from the same few sources — outdated, generic, and written by people who have never set foot here. The real knowledge lives with the people who actually work and live in this country.
That is what Bhutanese Voices is for.
Who Should Write
Anyone Bhutanese with something genuine to share. You do not need to be a professional writer. You do not need perfect English. You just need something real to say — something that comes from experience, from working in your field, from knowing this country from the inside.
This includes guides, drivers, hotel staff, farmers, doctors, teachers, monks, engineers, architects, chefs, artists, wildlife experts, trekkers, festival organisers, historians — anyone who knows something about Bhutan that a visitor would benefit from knowing.
What to Write About
Why It Matters
Visitors arrive in Bhutan with questions that tour operators do not always have time to answer fully. Guides give the best information they can in limited time. Travel agents pass on what they know. But so much gets lost — context, nuance, the kind of thing you only learn after years of being here.
An article published here reaches people before they arrive. It shapes how they understand Bhutan, what they expect, how they behave. A good article from a local voice does more for the kingdom's image than any marketing campaign.
And for the tourism industry specifically — accurate information in the right places means better-prepared guests, fewer misunderstandings, and visits that go more smoothly for everyone.
A few simple guidelines
- Write about what you know from personal experience
- Be honest — the most valuable content is the kind that tells the truth
- Keep it relevant to Bhutan, tourism, or local life
- English is preferred but Dzongkha is also welcome — we can help with translation
- Any length is fine — a short story or a detailed guide, both are valued
- You will be credited by name, field and Instagram or Facebook if you want
There is no payment involved. This is about building something useful — a collection of genuine Bhutanese knowledge that helps visitors and serves the industry. If that matters to you, we would love to hear from you.
